Training 

 

Our department is committed to professionalism and training to ensure that our officers meet the high standards of our community.
 

 Auxiliary Officers are Trained in the following areas:

  • First Responder / CPR / Defibrillator
  • OC / Baton Training / Defensive tactics
  • Basic handcuffing
  • Firearm safety
  • Applied patrol procedures
  • Anti-Terrorism training
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness
  • Blood-Borne Pathogens
  • Traffic and Pedestrian Control
  • Response to Critical Incidents 

 

After one year, officers are eligible to attend the Reserve/Intermittent Police Academy.

 

 Our officers go through a wide variety of training to prepare them for their role.  First-response medical training, CPR, and blood-borne pathogens help our officers provide appropriate first aid.

 

Officers are trained on use of force, defensive tactics, Baton and OC, firearms safety and handcuffing. 

 

As part of our mission to serve during emergencies, our training includes response to incidents involving anti-terrorism practices and procedures; mass-casualty and large scale emergency protocols; and incident command.
